Review - Some really cool and unique games came out on the obscure (in the west at least) X68000 platform.

What makes Akumajou Dracula stand out compared to other games of the series and also compared to games in the X68000 library is the awesome atmosphere unleashed by the midi soundtrack (there are three different options for the music, and two of these are for midi, depending on the midi synth you own) and by the gothic-looking graphics.

Gameplay is also rather smooth while the difficulty setting is high. This game begs to be played over and over, and I must recognize that the experience of actually playing it on a real X68000 with a proper midi synthesizer gives it justice.

This game was indeed flawlessly ported to PS which means if you want to enjoy it, that would be an easier path (along with emulation).

Bottom line: One of the better chapters in the never ending Castlevania saga...9/10
