Last battalion aka Override

version: jp - year: 1991 - developer: sting - publisher: sting - format: x68000, 2 disks - condition: mint - rarity: hard to find

The packaging is excellent with nice artwork allaround and a great little comic strip inside the manual detailing the story of the game.

A cool and underrated vertical shooter...

which looks and plays best on X68000

Review - Last Battalion is better known with its Pc- Engine name Override.

This X68000 version includes exclusive intro and outro sequences not found in the Pc Engine version while the levels also include one or more layers of parallax scrolling, which are entirely missing in the Pc Engine incarnation.

Strangely, the cut-scenes run in 15 khz mode so if you are playing with a VGA monitor the game will mysteriously go blank until you get to the game title screen where you can actually set 15 or 31 khz mode. For a complete review of this game, read my Pc Engine review here.

Bottom line: Keep in mind that if you are looking for the best version of Override, you should get this X68000 version without any hesitation. 8/10
