Review -Direct port from the 1987 arcade game from Namco, this one is basically pixel perfect.

Before starting a game, it's possible to select either to start with 1 ship (and have the others in stock) or to start with two ships on-screen, and 1 less in your inventory.

Coming after Galaxian, Galaga and Gaplus, Galaga '88 ups the audio-visuals to the next level while retaining some of the key gameplay elements of the previous games such as the Tractor Beam (which steals your ships!) or adding new mechanics like the dimension warp.

When aliens are shot down, they explode like fireworks and overall, Galaga'88 has an unusual festive look to it.

Bottom line: A hectic shooter from older times with an immediate yet deep gameplay system. Recommended! 8/10
