Little known SFC-only sequel of the original arcade game Ninjawarriors
One of the best action games for the super famicom.
Huge, well drawn sprites...
...decent backgrounds...
...and some tough bosses make for an excellent gaming experience.
Review-Ninja Warriors Again is the Super Famicom exclusive sequel of the seminal arcade game Ninja Warriors.
It is one of the best side-scrolling fighters on 16 bit as it features big, nicely drawn sprites with lots of frames and challenging but never unfair difficulty. You can choose among 3 beautifully designed characters to take on the various levels the game has to offer. They all have specific characteristics which affect gameplay. Should you pick the huge but slow character or the faster but weaker one? It really is up to the player preference although in some situations using one character over the other definitely gives the edge.
Backgrounds are generally well drawn although they tend to look a bit generic but the action is at times so intense that you will hardly notice this.
As a fighting game, Ninja Warriors Again proves to be one of the best options on Nintendo's 16 bit console. No slowdown whatsoever showed up during play as the flow of the action literally sucked me in.
To conclude, great graphics, cool sound and fun gameplay make for an awesome package.
Bottom line: Track this game down and you will probably enjoy every minute of it, just as I did! 8/10
