One of the better shooters on Super Famicom

The last boss is easy if you are equipped with the upgraded photon set on homing shot.

Panic Yuma is a sweetheart...

Review - Ported from the arcades, Super E.D.F stands out because of its gameplay mechanics.

You choose your weapon in advance and can change only after getting destroyed. By killing enemies, your selected weapon automatically upgrades. With each upgrade, you unlock different set-ups for your weapon, which can be activated by pressing the secondary fire button. This is very important because some weapons like the laser and the photon will acquire a homing functionality when upgraded. This will give you a clear edge over enemies so make sure you take advantage of that!

Super EDF graphics are very nicely drawn, and you can have a taste of it even in the first level, in which you'll be flying through beautifully rendered transparent clouds amidst many layers of smooth parallax scrolling.

The music also complements the action on screen nicely, so there is really no reason why you shouldn't track this game down.

Bottom line: A welcome surprise. 8/10
