Review - Tekken 4 takes the saga in the realm of real 3D fighters.

This time, it is possible the move on the z axis much like in Toshinden. Aside from this element, the game features some old and new fighters and some redesigned arenas. There are also some awesome graphical effects such as the water in the Jungle.

Moreover, it is possible to interact with the backgrounds but not nearly as much as in Dead or Alive 3 for instance.

Many people complained about the lack of innovation of this chapter, claming that Tekken is now leaving the throne of best fighter to other series such as Virtua Fighter and DOA.

In my opinion, Tekken 4 still provides excellent play mechanics and very well executed graphics and music. It is undeniable though that Namco should put in more original elements in future rehiterations of the saga.

Bottom line: Tekken 4 is as good as any other Tekken in the series, but it didn't bring the same graphical tour de force seen in the home port of Tekken 3. 8,5/10
