Review-Visco's attempt at the genre on Neo-Geo is actually decent.
Fighters are fairly big, and well animated while the backgrounds could be more inspired. The array of fighters you can choose from doesn't stand out since there are all of the stereotypical characters one can expect from a 2D vs fighter.
If you don't mind playing a game that isn't particularly innovative, then this game will be worth playing at least to check out the memorable homosexual version of Zorro :)
This game was not only released on MVS and on CD-Rom, because there is apparently also an incredibly rare and expensive AES version. This was very recently pointed out to me by a Neo-Geo fan who contacted me. Breakers Revenge was released two years later and is just an updated version of Breakers rather than a real sequel.
Bottom line: very rare fighting game for the neo-geo by a company other than snk/adk, and for that, it has a different feel. 7,5/10
