Review - Donpachi is certainly an outstanding 2D vertical shooter given that you don't mind bullet hell.

The cosmetics are of very high quality, the astonishing power ups redefine the concept of fire power while the cool audio comments add a bit of drama to the experience. Unfortunately, sampled speech is a bit rustling but this doesn't detract too much from the game.

There are 5 distinct levels although to really finish the game, you'll need to play them through for a second time.

The unlimited continues considerably water down the challenge factor but despite this, Cave's shooter remains fun to pick up and play.

Bottom line: a beautiful shooter who's main focus resides in the scoring system....7,5/10
