Review - Launched as one of the early flagship titles of the PS3, Resistance Fall of Man is indeed a showcase of the console's technical capabilities.

The game looks good, no doubt about it, the 3D engine is truly impressive, managing huge landscapes with little effort and no uncertainties in the scrolling. Be it in still pictures or in motion, Resistance looks impressive and still beats, at least technically, a lot of second generation titles (such as Jericho) hands down.

Insomniac really did an amazing job, and everything from the characters models, to the backgrounds and the details of the textures is really high quality. Even the soundtrack is very well done, as the story unfolds just like a Hollywood movie. Once you get past the sparkles though, you'll be left with a pretty generic, WW2 with-aliens FPS, which never really manages to inspire or surprise like a real masterpiece should. Even the last levels when you actually face the alien threat from the inside look like the usual generic sci-fi shooter, like Prey for instance.

Don't get me wrong, this is a quality game, but given the extra shine and polish that the audio-visuals have been given, I expected more on the game-play side. The only real astounding part involves the use of vehicles Halo-style, with levels which involve destruction on a grand scale and which are very fun to play. Taking down a Stalker will bring memories of Half Life 2 Walkers, but here you'll be able to actually hop in and use it!

Other than that, Resistance doesn't add a whole lot to the world of FPSs, it's just another good game you should play but nothing more unfortunately.

Bottom line: extra crisp visuals, but you probably experienced something similar before. 8/10
