Review - This side scrolling shooter for Duo came to me as a welcome surprise.

The programmers tried to push the machine to do “Mode 7esque” things like rotations and zooms of sprites and backgrounds. Well, the poor old Duo CPU just can’t handle it…or can it?

When the 1st boss shows up, the game will drop at maybe a couple of frames per second! But after this encounter, things get really better.

Starting with very well drawn cinematics and moving to cool voices and memorable backgrounds, the game kept me glued to the screen. I don’t remember seeing many Duo shooters with beautifully rotating backgrounds! There is a stage where you first confront the big evil Bio-brain. It is really cool how mechanical backgrounds are gradually eaten up by pulsating flesh until you reach the brain’s hideout.

To help you out into the journey, you can morph shape and chose the ideal weapons set up. Power ups are well balanced and sometimes fundamental to go on.

A final note on the exceptional music. A mix of ambient/ techno will really set up the right mood.

Bottom line: All in all, the game is well worth playing! ! 7/10
