Review - Valis on Famicom came out a year after the original MSX version and luckily, it looks and sounds much better.
The scrolling isn't flawed, sprites don't flicker and controls are responsive.
Too bad gameplay is boring. Very boring. The first level sees you running around in circles in a maze-like city trying to figure out which way to go.
The game provides you with only 1 life and enemies will never leave you alone as they'll keep on re-spawing forever. And ever.
Play the PCE version instead! (where did I write this before ?!) Nice artwork in the instructions manual though.
Bottom line: port of the MSX game, with improved audio-visuals but same sad gameplay. 5/10
