version: jp - year: 1994 - developer: treasure - publisher: sega - format: mega drive, 24 mbit cartridge - condition: near mint- rarity: hard to find
The 4 players option is a definite plus
Characters animation is well done whereas
the backgrounds quality varies a lot, depending on the level
Most stages feature some excellent parallax
effects
With the green hair guy
Itsuki, I could hardly win the 1st fight.....whereas with the guy to the right, Toguro Ani, I almost
beat the game on 1 credit. I feel the characters
balance needs some work.
Review-Treasure's 4 players fighting game came out towards the end of the Mega Drive life span and this is no surprise since Treasure seems to enjoy creating excellent games for doomed or almost exctinct game systems.
YuYu Hakusho Makyou Touitsusen (not to e confused with the RPG Yu Yu Hakusho Gaiden) is probably one of the best fighting games on sega's 16 bit console.
It has solid graphics with plenty of parallax scrolling, good quality music and enjoyable gameplay.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to try the 4 players mode (which should be a total blast), even if the single player experience is already satisfying the way it is.
This game is targeted at the fans of the original manga and anime on which it's based on but also Treasure's supporters and fighting games maniacs will enjoy this.
If you want to get this game though, get ready to shell out some cash, since it's still pretty expensive.
Bottom line: a different fighting game which includes a nice 4 players option and comes in a mammoth 24 mbit cartridge....8/10
