Rave Groove Adventure aka Rave Master

version: jp - year: 2002 - developer: konami - publisher: konami - format: game cube, mini dvd - condition: mint - rarity: uncommon

Review - Rave Groove Adventure is a free-for-all fighting game similar in concept to Power Stone 2.

Konami recreated the comic book (manga) and cartoon (anime) world in this dynamic GC game. If you are familiar with Powerstone's play mechanics, than this game will feel very familiar to you.

There are different weapons to be used, boxes to kick and gems to collect. When your magic meter will reach a certain level, it will be possible to unleash a magic attack that will vary according to the number of gems collected and to the weapon held in that moment. Interaction with the backgrounds is actually very limited, so gameplay is relatively unaffected by the different arenas you are fighting in (there are some exceptions).

The character design is nice while polygon models could use more detail but are all in all nicely done.

The music is appropriate while gameplay is solid without being great. The single-player is decent but this game probably delivers the best in the 4 players mode.

Bottom line: a fun Power Stone clone...7/10
