Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-kun aka Dracula Kid

version: jp - year: 1993 - developer: konami - publisher: konami - format: gb, cartridge- condition: near mint - rarity: uncommon

Sequel of the Famicom original game.

Review - Despite its name, this platfomer has actually little to do with the Akumajou Dracula (Castlevania) series although some consider it to be some kind of a parody.

Simple yet charming visuals coupled with a nice little gothic music and addictive gameplay makes this game an entertaining offer.

Humoristic touches are everywhere to be found: the KKK boss with the swastika engraved on his forehead or Jason (Friday the 13th) who, upon seeing you, tries to free his axe stuck into a tree log until he then grabs the shotgun and starts shooting at you like a maniac!

Another excellent moment is when you go on a rollercoaster ride: take a look in the sky when you reach the highest point of the loop and you’ll see a UFO flying by!

The great humor, coupled with the variety of special powers you can use (change into a bat and fly or walk upside down) make this little gem of a game a must have in the GB catalogue.

Bottom line: Playable, humoristic and fun little platform game, warmly recommended! 8/10
