Bosses weak spot is usually the head
Review-Denaris on C64 has been programmed by Manfred Trenz among others. And it shows. Rarely the C64 has managed to display such great graphics. The starfield scrolls by convincingly simulating a nice parallax effect while your ship takes on the alien waves. The different weapons available in the game are cool and certainly add to the variety of the game.
The POD system has famously been "borrowed" from R-Type but Denaris on C64 is a a gem that shines in its own right.
The music is incredibly catchy even today and is miles better compared to the A500 version! Game-play is generally good although collision detection could have used some additional tweaking. Despite that, Denaris still represents one of the best side-scrolling shooters on the C64 and is certainly worth a look if you can put up with loading time, that is!
Bottom line: Simply one of the best shooters on the C-64 and a great R-Type clone....9/10
