Fire and Brimstone

version: pal (de) - year: 1990 - developer: verctordean - publisher: firebird - format: amiga 500, 1 disk - condition: near mint - rarity: hard to find

Review - Fire and Brimstone is a unique game. At first, it really seems to be yet another Ghosts'n Goblins clone with a Vikings flavor but after some time spent with it, it is clear that it is a very different game.

It scrolls by fixed screens and gameplay tends to require some thought in order to advance and get rid of the enemies. In this sense, it is not as immediate as Ghosts'n Goblins although there is plenty of action!

This is not a puzzle game, although it has some mild puzzle elements in it.

The audio-visuals are convincing and do the job just right while gameplay tends to be very challenging. This isn't a game you will finish after one or two attempts, as it requires a pretty good understanding of enemy and bosses patterns before you go anywhere.

Bottom line: Challenging platformer with some mild puzzle elements. Obscure yet worthy of being discovered. 7/10
